Budget Buster #1
Coffee, Need we say more?
Part of my morning routine was a Starbucks stop.
Not just coffee, but a grande seasonal caramel mocha with caramel and extra foam, drizzles,
a croissant, or pasty du jour, and the tip. That’s $10 a day.
Then there was the 3:00 Starbucks stop, another $10 bucks drop.
Do the math, $20 day, 5 days a week, that’s $400 a month, for coffee!
I finally broke the habit with planning, a coffee maker, and more importantly intention.
I now consider myself a recovering coffee shop junkie.
Ten pounds slimmer and a fatter wallet is my recovery happiness.

Food Shopping

Budget Buster #2
Food Shopping Without A List
You food shop without a list, for what you think you need.
Then return home to realize what you forgot.
You can’t make your fave dish, for lack of ingredients or supplies.
You have to make a run to the bodega to pick up missing items, at convenience store prices.

Budget Buster #3
Stock-up Shopping
You shop once a month at a Costco, Sam’s Club big-discount warehouse stores.
Those frozen super-sized items crowd your precious freezer space.
They get stuck in the back of the freezer, out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
You meant to make an Instagram-inspired smoothie a day.
Now those frozen berries are freezer burned, you toss them out.

Budget Buster #4
The Food Train
It’s so easy to order dinner on the train.
A few swipes, push order and dinner will be delivered as you arrive home, cool.
How much do you actually spend on impulse, convenient food delivery?
Have you ever added it up? What price do you want to pay for convenience?
Planning a vaycay or quick-food delivery, your choice.

Clothes Shopping
Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, web fashion sites, everywhere you look there’s temptation.
The need to be in-trend, what’s new, this season, wanna-be That Girl.
We shop shop shop and stuff our closets without thinking about what we already have and actually need.
The result is a stuffed closet, but not a cohesive style.

Budget Buster #5
Double Take
Have you ever twice bought shoes or boots, the same, or so similar, they might as well have been the same?
That’s shopping without a plan, not to mention wasting money.
Sure you can return them, but that’s wasting your valuable time.

Budget Buster #6
Cheep Cheep Cheep
H&M, Top Shop, so in-trend and affordable, but not designed to last.
Cheap fabric and construction don’t last.
So what, it’s what’s in season, just buy another, right?
Shopping new, season by season is a budget buster!

Budget Buster #7
Wine + Shopping Online
Late night Net-binging, wine, laptop, iPad, smartphone, so easy to shop.
That cool kitchen gadget, woven throw or in-trend decor [think pineapple], gotta have it now item.
Purchases ship in 2 days or 2 hours. Cool beans.
But wait, you don’t bake, know how to knit or need another ice bucket.
The new dress arrives, it’s nothing like the photo online, in fact, it doesn’t fit and looks cheap and nasty.
You can return it, but now you have to take time to ship it back, that’s time wasted..

I will work with you, to help you uncover your budget busters.
